Dental visit: Spacing between teeth in the chewing area can result in food impaction and gum irritation. Visit a dentist to see if part of the tooth is missing or if a filling could be placed to close the space.

Best to be: Evaluated by your dentist asap. If it is purely a dental issue, then its a relatively easy fix with a filling or a crown. If the problem is due to the underlying bone, or the lack thereof, bigger problem. In either event, waiting will only make it worse, more painful and more expensive. Also invest in a waterpik. Hope this helps.
