i've been taking 600mg of magnesium citrate everyday for the last month. what side effects  should i be aware of?

Mg citrate: If using it as a laxative -  you may be creating a situation where your body becomes dependent on it to have a BM.    Otherwise  - i might be concerned about the amount of magnesium your body is absorbing.       I would talk to your doctor about this  - rarely should constipation last this long.    Also a serum magnesium level might be appropriate     Good luck

Review with your doc: Magnesium is one of those minerals that can cause a lot of problems if you take too much of it.  The recommended dietary allowance of magnesium is 320 mg; getting this from food sources is entirely safe. Taking more through supplements may cause diarrhea, nausea/vomiting.  I'm not sure why you think 250 mg is not enough, but taking up to 320-350 per day should be safe. But check with your doctor:)

i want if you could tell me im taking natures promise mega magnesium 400 mg and it says to take it three times a day so ive been taking it every six hours is that safe?

: If you're a healthy person, why are you taking so much magnesium? That is way too much magnesium to take as a simple daily supplement and can be dangerous if one has kidney disease. Troublesome diarrhea can be caused by that dose.   Rarely we prescribe more than 400 mgs unless patients have severe magnesium  deficiency from diuretics or long term vomiting or diarrhea.

i'm a woman 29 years old and i would like to know if taking daily 400mg of magnesium glycinate is ok. i can't find 250mg anywhere. thanks?

Yes: Your average daily intake should be about 310 mg of Magnesium and this number goes up when you're pregnant. But to answer your question 400 mg a day should be fine.

Hard to tell...: sometimes it is possible to deduce knowing more details; however, it is not unheard of some people responding to certain medicine in other than traditional way, for example, get agitated from such  common sedative  drugs as benzodiazepines. That is why doctors have a term 'idiosyncrasy'..yet again, perhaps discussing details with your doctor will help

Low Magnesium: Low magnesium (m) levels can cause, muscle spasms, tics, weakness, low calcium and potassium blood levels as well as dangerous cardiac irregular heart rhythms. Patients on diuretics are more apt to develop this problem than those not on them. See your doctor for more advice, or if you have symptoms go to the nearest er for IV m administration.

No: Magnesium will also helps counter pregnancy's tendency for constipation and leg cramps.  Decrease the amount if you get very loose stools.

Yes: Unless you have a medical condition, magnesium is a safe supplement to take.  Literature suggests it is a calming agent.
