Are you????: Bisting your lower lip...it can occur during the night (as a part of teeth grinding! Ask your Dentist!!

Herpes: This could be just from the small cut on your lower lip.  Its difficult to say whether or not this is a cold sore (herpes actually).  This can suddenly appear..even if you have never had it before.

The incubation period for Herpes simplex virus infection ranges from 2 days to 2 weeks.

are hsv1 & 2 igg conclusive after 7 wks of poss exposure? i tested negative at 7 wks. showed some early nerve pain symptoms, chapped lips... no sores no rashes etc. i've been told they are conclusive but then read may not be. please help clearify?

Inconclusive: The sensitivity of serologic testing for detection of HSV-2 (IgG antibody) vary from 90- to 100%, which means this test may result in false negative in up to 10% of infected patients.  I would repeat the test.

what are the symptoms of herpes/cold sores/canker sores on your lips/mouth?

Two different things: Cankers (recurrent aphthous ulcers) are an "auto-immune" type reaction to trauma/stress (such as biting your lip). They occur on the loose membranes of your lips, cheeks and floor of the mouth.  Your dentist can treat with prednisone, laser or chemicals to cut pain. Cold sores are hsv. Abreva helps those some, but most need doc rx. Both go away without treatment in 10-14 days (pain only 3-5 days).

i have a rash under my bottom lip. dont have any other symptoms of herpes like burning urine or sores "down there" it doesn't hurt just itches?

Rash: It would be rash of me to try and suggest a diagnosis without seeing this eruption.  You need to be examined by a doctor and have suggestions made for cause and treatment. Good luck.

i get cold sores. kissed my kids on face and forehead. kissed my husband on the lips hours before the bump appeared with no symptoms. how long until we know if they have the cold sore virus now? i'm panicking?

: See reply to your previous question. Since you have had longstanding recurrent oral herpes, there's a good chance your husband and kids already are infected, whether or not they have symptoms. They should see the family doctor if or when any start to develop symptoms, but there's no other practical way to know. Happily, most cases are mild; and when more severe, can be effectively treated.

Probably not: Cold sores--or herpes simplex reactivation--usually will present as an area at the lip red border or just beyond, that initially may sting or burn and then goes on to develop a cluster of tiny blisters. These may coalesce into one or more larger blisters and finally open. Cracking at the corners of the mouth is often from licking due to dryness (ie allergies).
