Could be: It is nearly impossible to tell if it is a virus or strep by examination alone.  A rapid strep test is simple and definitely worthwhile.

Rule out fungus: The throat should be cultured for fungus.  There are a number of fungi that co-habitate with normal bacterial flora in the throat.  Usually, this follows taking an antibiotic or stress can induce the multiplication of these organisms that are present in small amounts in most normal throats.  If the culture is positive for fungi, appropriate anti-fungal gargles will resolve this problem.

Yes: Excessive pressure from coughing can break capillaries and cause small amount of blood to appear in the mucus. Take a probiotic (Megafood Megaflora Plus brand), zinc 50 mg/day (NOW is a good brand), Vitamin D3 10,000 IU/day (NOW brand) or sunshine for 30-45 minutes at noon daily to get over the the infection faster.  Throat coat liquorice tea (consume several times/day) also helps to reduce pain.

i had a swollen uvula with swollen tonsils last week swollen uvula went away and now its swollen again with my swollen tonsils. is it because i havent took care of my throat ? or cause my tonsils are still here ?

: Prob able infection, viral, bacterial, or fungal. See your General Physician or Urgent Care. Referral to a specialist ENT may begin order.

See a physician now: There are several different types of infections that can cause your present symptoms.  Thus you need to be examined and appropriately treated by your pcp or ent.  If you cannot get in to see them i would go to an urgent care center now as they have physicians that will be able to help you immediately.

Yes: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep). A couple days of throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) can lessen pain.

Most commonly it is due to a viral infection.  common cold symptoms often accompany the sore throat.  cough, runny nose, sneezing etc.  bacterial causes like strep usually lack cough, hoarseness, nasal running or congestion.  time is the best management.  for symptoms relief, lozengers, salt water gargles, NSAIDS sparingly can help.

Swollen tonsil: Sometimes  asymmetry of the tonsils(tonsillar pillars), position and muscle tone. 80%of the time it is benign but 20% of  the time there could be malignancy which is not known until they examine the tissue after tonsillectomy. Any lymph nodes in the neck? F/U within 2 weeks with ENT. Ask if  MRI would be of any help in distinguishing between non malignant and malignant cases,
