Probably not: The controlling mechansms in the brain give asymmetric innervation to all the body organs. Inflammation is induced by the brain so this could be the answer. On the other hand, there may be some infection on the swollen side and not the other.

Yes: If you have no pain and if the swelling is  not increasing things are probably OK. Start applying moist heat to the swollen area for 20 minutes at a time to help the swelling go down. If there's no improvement in a few days time, go see your surgeon for a follow up.

It is not normal: Wisdom teeth. It was a surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. Pain, swelling and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. Your symptoms could be a serous problem.  See your dentist or an oral surgeon for post-op appointment and treatment.

Depends.: Normally, within a week the swelling should be significantly reduced.  Try to keep the are clean.  Use the curve syringe to flush out the food after eating.  Steroid only effective 1/2 hour within the surgery appointment.  Take your antibiotic faithfully and Ibuprofen for antiswelling measure.

Usually not: The first 3 days are the most critical and as long as you are careful, it shouldn't be a problem. Some stitches do not actually fall out but dissolve. It is always best to check with the dentist who placed the stitches.

Other factors: There are other factors to be considered when teeth or bite shifts after wisdom teeth extraction, is there any other missing teeth? What are the condition of the existing teeth?, occlusion(bite)status?, etc..
