i've had swollen lymph nodes for over year..now my tounge and roof of mouth hurts..i have a sore on roof of mouth..my ears also hurt?

Herpes virus: The sore on your palate is probably a herpes viral infection.  These ulcers normally last 10-14 days. They can be painful and cause other referred pain. This infection is an opportunistic type from a trigger or weakened immune system. Therefore go to see your md to determine the cause of long term lymph node swelling.

what is going on with my lip?! it hurts so bad and there is a lot of other things going on in my mouth and everything is swollen.&swollen lymph nodes

Vague question: "Other things going on" does not describe anything. You may have dental problems, allergies, or even an infection. You need to be physically examined by both a physician and a dentist. Please make appointments and feel better soon.

can tmj pain start at any time? saw dds in apr. for exam had no problems. now pain when opening mouth but also swollen lymph nodes in neck.

Definitely: Tmj (disorder) can occur at anytime and can come and go with periods of stress or difference in routine. Swollen lymph nodes are not commonly associated and i would go back for a quick check up in case it's actually something else.

i have thrush. i have sores in my mouth but am now experiencing swollen lymph nodes kind of close to my chin.  is this normal?  taking nystatin for it

Not Normal: Thrush in the mouth is usually after taking a course of antibiotics but other conditions can cause it. The sores in the mouth might indicate that you have a predisposing condition for both. Lymph nodes can be reactive. You need to connect with on of the healthtap MD or see your local MD.

Depends: Upper neck area nodes can been seen well. Lower neck nodes can be out of range of imaging.

Rule out tumor: Tender knots on head could be inflamed cysts or skin malignancies.  If there is associated lymph nodes these could be drainage from infected lesions or spread from malignant skin tumors which are enlarging. See surgeon to consider bx of head lesions. That will tell you what the cervical nodes are and what kind of treatment necessary to resolve issue.

Probably nothing: This is a constellation of minor anomalies such as any generally healthy person may have. Lab reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end. You need a general physician or skin Dr. to evaluate your scalp (?), &amp; serum iron and TIBC to search for mild iron deficiency (commonly raises RCW before anemia sets in). Malignant nodes aren't subtle.

Lots of things: Swollen lymph nodes may be swollen due to inflammation, infection, lymphoma, cancer, sarcoid or castlemann's disease.

Swollen salivary glands are a little harder but may be enlarged due to infection, blocked salivary ducts, inflammation or cancer. 

I am sure there are other possibilities but off the top of my head these seem to be the most common.

i went to the doctor for bumps on my head, he said it was swollen lymph nodes. its getting worse and really hurts. i also have painful bumbs on top?

Need more info: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. There are no lymph nodes in the scalp. You may wish to seek the advice of a different doctor.
