Not likely: Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine. Causes include bony deformities and either paralysis or spasm of the paraspinal muscles. Exercise is generally not useful for straightening the spine (this generally requires surgery), although exercise can help reduce symptoms such as pain and allow you to be more functional.

Scoliosis exercise: Scoliosis is a disorder related to the spine.  Pressure on the spine will increase the discomfort.  That occurs with obesity, and certain exercises.  So, weight loss, and exercise that takes pressure off of the back, can be helpful.  Also, strengthening the back muscles is helpful with many back problems.  Swimming takes all of the pressure off of your joints and is neutral for your back.

Swimming: Swimming is an excellent exercise for patients with spinal problems. I do not think there is any particular technique that one should do for scoliosis specifically.

Yes, swimming helps: Typically swimming does not worsen scoliosis.Rather good core strengthening from exercises like swimming, ellipticals &amp;pilates are beneficial.We would need to also have more info about your pool.COnsideration would be for you to see a sports medicine or PMR MD &amp; complete Physical therapy if you havent already.Once we know the degree of your curve that would help,in males these are often small.

Yes: These curve magnitudes are best described as spinal asymmetry not scoliosis and has the same natural course as a straighter spine you can do whatever you like for exercise if your back hurts cant blame the curves scientifically good luck

Certainly!: You say that your scoliosis is slight. That is good, and not all the uncommon.  Exercise helps most types of back pain. Make sure you start slowly and work your way up. A trainer can help, too.  But just do not overdo so the muscles soreness and back pain from starting at too high an intensity makes you quit.  Any exercises that improve the upper back and chest will help. Good luck, and have fun!

swimming for 2 months, now mild pain in pecs for 2 weeks, i didn't rest, could it be an injury? or is it respiartory muscles?btw i have mild scoliosis.

Overuse/Strength?: Most likely it's a little overuse inflammation from doing an exercise your pectoral muscles are not used to, especially if you have not rested very much.  Could also just be some soreness from working out the pectorals - to get muscles stronger usually involves getting muscles sore. Mild scoliosis should not matter. Your respiratory muscles will strengthen with swimming.

Congenital : Congenital scoliosis is typically treated in childhood. This really depends on the underlying reason for the scoliosis, how old your child is, and the chances that the scoliosis can get worse.  Surgery is a corrective option for this and it sounds like you should have an evaluation by a pediatric spine surgeon to see if surgery is or will be necessary at some point to help correct this.  Pediatric spine surgeons typically practice in major cities at the university or affiliated hospitals.  A pediatric orthopedic surgeon in your local are can also be helpful.

Type of spine curve: There are multiple reasons for scoliosis &one is known as a congenital type which is when there is a deformity of the bones ( vertebra) of the spine that one is born with & leads to an early curvature of the spine.  Some don't need surgery & others do.  They tend to not respond to bracing & can be very progressive in terms of a rapidly worsening curve & may be associated with other medical issues.
