R/O MRSA: MRSA IS A VERY AGGRESSIVE TYPE OF SKIN INFECTION. If he has it he is very sick right now and on very strong oral or IV ABS. IF THAT IS THE CASE, YOU NEED A NASAL CULTURE FOR MRSA TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT A CARRIER.&amp; you need to be treated with nasal Bactroban .  You need to see a doctor get an exam a&amp;discuss options.

Lip swelling: You need to determine the cause, it can be an allergic reaction to a food or drug, a topical allergic reaction, a manfestation of a hereditary disease or angioedema. See an allergist and find out the cause. Oral steroids usually help with the swelling.

After ruling out: Allergic reaction (people have died from kissing when severe allergies are related) and just considered trauma, decreasing swelling in such a vascularized area will be difficult. Ice may help, 20 min on/off. Hydrocortisone cream may have small effect but use very little in that area. Otherwise, time will be the best treatment. Best of luck!

: “Quick pin sensation” sounds for like an insect bite rather than herpes.  Herpes simplex usually comes up over many hours to 1-2 days.  I guess you can protect her by sharing an insect repellent.  If herpes, likelihood of transmission from any one episode is so low the preventative meds are just not worth it.  It’s the REPETITIVE kissing over days/weeks/months that is more an issue

Chagas disease: If you were bitten in north america it is extremely unlikely that you will contract chagas disease.  The prevalence of the disease here is just too low.  Some will develop an ulcer at the site of the bite. Parasitemia is easily demonstrated with blood smears or pcr.

blistering due to viral infection (or bacterial)
food allergies or to new cosmetic (lipstick)
these would be most common, after that one must look into the problem much more closely.
