Chagas disease: If you were bitten in north america it is extremely unlikely that you will contract chagas disease. The prevalence of the disease here is just too low. Some will develop an ulcer at the site of the bite. Parasitemia is easily demonstrated with blood smears or pcr.

? Chagas disease: If what you are describing happened in new york, you are very unlkely to be at risk for acquiring the parasite, trypanosoma, transmitted by kissiing bug. If you get any symptoms, see your doctor for proper tests.
