May or may not: Be related to the procedure. I would call the doc and make an inquiry, other causes could be low magnesium or potassium or dehydration or possible side effect of medication you are taking so keep those in mind as well.

Possibly serious: One needs to rule out a blood clot first.  Call your doctor ASAP to start that workup and initiate treatment if you have one.  It is potentially life threatening.  If that is negative, then your doctor can look at other reasons.

Venous thrombosis: Swelling in pelvis and legs depends on the response to  hysterectomy where if procedure was for tumor a pelvic node dissection was probably performed.  Here there is a possibility of iliac and hypogastric vein thrombosis leading to extremity edema as well  as aching from  obturator and pelvic femoral nerve irritation

Very : Very difficult to tell without a clinical examination.  It could be eczema, psoriasis, stasis dermatitis, or many other conditions.  I would recommend you see a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment options.  Read a little more about eczema and psoriasis at the link below (including pictures).  I hope that helps.

Get it checked out: A painful swollen leg is absolutely worthy of investigation.  Possibilities can include a blood clot, muscular injury, ruptured bakers cyst, or swelling from insuffiency of the veins.  It should be evaluated right away.

See a doctor: This could be a blood clot or an infection. If it either of these serous medical conditions prompt medical treatment is necessary. If you dont have a doctor go to an emergency room.

Swelling: Evaluation to determine the source of the swelling, may include sonogram, CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis.  I can think of a reason why an incision would be necessary to determine the source, unless there is a suspicion of a tumor causing the swelling.

I would recommend use of a compression stocking during daily activities to treat the swelling issue.

Depends: Lower leg swelling is a symptom, not a diagnosis. It should be evaluated by a physician.

Accepted Answer

Antibiotics: Would be best, see a doctor to diagnose if you have an infection that needs to be treated.
