Possibly serious: One needs to rule out a blood clot first. Call your doctor ASAP to start that workup and initiate treatment if you have one. It is potentially life threatening. If that is negative, then your doctor can look at other reasons.

Phlebitis: One of the complications of surgery and in particular pelvic surgery is phlebitis. Frequently anticoagulants are given along with compressions stockings to prevent The phlebitis results in leg swelling and pain. Treatment is to prevent the complication of embolus to lung. Physician may have to prescribe blood thinner ,and elevation of legs.
