Normal, no HPV: If I correctly understand the abbreviations, your doctor ordered a pap smear for which HPV testing was to be done if the smear was abnormal. Your pap did not show those abnormalities; therefore HPV testing wasn't done. In other words, it's all good news: your results were fine with nothing to worry about. Warts not cancer: Of the 4 or so HPV strains we know that trigger genital warts, none are associated with cancer. Swabs of the area can be studied similar to a pap smear &amp; tested for other non wart strains that are. A person can become infected with more than one HPV strain.

Confusing: Your question is a bit confusing but I think you are saying your current pap smear is ASCUS HPV + with E6/E7 HPV RNA. If that is the case then the next step is a colposcopy - a microscope exam of the cervix. Cancer is very unlikely with this level of pap abnormality but some cervical abnormalities could be detected by the exam. Early detection is key

HPV DNA Testing: Yes.  Simple as it sounds, please have your wife contact the physician who ran the test and request results.

But, please be aware that these results often take a bit longer to be reported.  And, once in a great while the testing medium is unable to isolate enough cells to do the test with any kind of accuracy and the test then needs to be repeated.  

But, this test is a very good improvement!

Maybe need HPV test: You have an abnormal PAP test meaning possible precancerous lesion; the pathologist will automatically test your sample fo HPV

: As you seem to know, this is a somewhat unusual report. HPV is almost always the cause of LSIL (low grade intraepithelial lesion) Pap smear. You should assume you have HPV despite not being tested for it. Discuss with the doctor who did the Pap test and follow his or her advice, which might include repeating the Pap smear. Good luck.

No HSV in CNS: With these tests, you're obviously under a doctor's care, maybe including an infectious diseases specialist or neurologist. They can answer these questions best. But these results effectively rule out HSV infection of your central nervous system. Something else is causing the problem. That said, the HSV IgM test is notoriously unreliable. You probably also had an IgG test, probably negative.

Not clear: I'm not clear on your question.  If your pap smear identified hpv types 16 and 18, then you are infected with these "high risk" subtypes of human papilloma virus.  This poses a risk for cervical cancer; it doesn't mean you have cancer, but you should be evaluated and treated to prevent progression to cancer.  Have you been vaccinated against hpv? It seems as if you should be.  See your ob/gyn.

if one is tested negative for hpv last 3 years in row with the e6/e7 mrna but positive this year when changed labs and tested with the reflex dna cotest hr hpv / negative genotest 16/18 why is there a difference in tests ? which is more accurate ?

: If additional sexual partners occur, testing for the more serious HPV types (16/18) may be positive, which are usually treated by your GYN physician with colposcopy and biopsy, as these serologic types can lead to cancer of the cervix.
