As you seem to know, this is a somewhat unusual report. HPV is almost always the cause of LSIL (low grade intraepithelial lesion) Pap smear. You should assume you have HPV despite not being tested for it. Discuss with the doctor who did the Pap test and follow his or her advice, which might include repeating the Pap smear. Good luck.

While "LSIL" is often associated with HPV, a "low grade intraepithelial lesion" (LSIL) may be associated with other causes of inflammatory reaction. There are many sub-types of HPV, and some more likely to cause malignancy. If "no HPV" was seen on the smear, get the pap smear repeated. With LSIL, there is no sign of malignancy in any case.
