Surgeon: Speak with your surgeon..The percocet and valium should be quite sufficient in most cases.  I tend to recommend minimizing narcotic usage to under a week for this procedure. Make sure you follow the surgeon's post-op protocols.

Various Ways: Good thing is that you may successfully manage symptoms from herniated discs with conservative options including anti-inflammatories (if not medically contra-indicated for you), physical therapy, spinal injections. Only few will need surgery for persisting symptoms or for progressive neurologic deficit or changes in bowel or bladder function.

Careful: The act of spinning is not traumatic. A fall from spinning might be, and if your disc herniation is severely symptomatic, i would be careful of spinning.

Disc herniation: There are varying degrees of disc  herniation: bulge, protrusion, extrusion, and free fragment.  Disc extrusions and free fragments slowly dry up and dissolve on their own, however this takes time. Bulges and protrusions usually do not "heal" but can be helped with improved posture. Epidural steroid injections can reduce nerve swelling caused by the disc irritation, but not to shrink the disc.

No: A herniated disc is not likely to get infected unless the patient has a systemic infection.  In that case, it is called discitis.

Parse the words: Cervical = neck. Herniated = out of normal anatomic location. Disc = cartilage located between adjacent vertebrae. Bilobed = two separate bulges protruding from the disc.
