Any : You should try and use name brand adhesive using no more than 3 pea sized daps. Avoid those containing zinc. Patient swear by either paste or powder try either and see what works for u.  Remember though, your denture should be evaluated on a yearly basis. It should on average be relined every 3-5 years and a new set made every 5-7 years. Even if it it's "functioning ok", for several reasons.

Can be helpful: Having an immediate or transitional denture inserted immediately following extractions can sometimes be difficult for the patient, especially when there are a lot of teeth to be removed and if the surgeon has to reshape a lot of bone to accommodate the denture(s).  

Some patients do have to use a denture adhesive for a period of time until adjustments to the immediate denture are made.

Why?: Braces are fixed, not removable, appliances.  If a fixed brace has come loose see your orthodontic specialist asap.  If you have been fitted for a removable orthodontic appliance and it doesn't fit well, wearing an ill-fitting appliance can cause harm.  See your orthodontist.  If you feel you must use denture adhesive, just follow the package directions.

Denture Adhesive: There is no known risk of hardening of the arteries with long term use of denture adhesive. Some adhesives do contain zinc which if ingested in large amounts can cause anemia.

Yes: Your bone will continue to shrink your whole life, but it shrinks the most just after the teeth are removed. Your body interprets the fact that you don't have teeth as you don't need bone. You can expect to periodically need to have the denture relined and then replaced.

No Denture Sores: Sore gums under a denture is a sign that dentures are not fitting properly. The denture moves & irritates the mucous membranes under the denture. You should see a prosthodontist with extra training in this area. They will evaluate the denture's fit to the gums & how they meet when biting/chewing & how tall the teeth are. All these contribute to denture fit. Adhesive can't fix ill-fitting dentures.
