"Sleep wrong": Assuming you have only back pain, done nothing physically unusual in the preceding few days, and are not menstruating/ovulating, then most likely your sleep position strained your back or compressed the facet joints in the back of your spine. Either way, such pain should be short-lived. If it isn't, something else is wrong.

Rest: If have radiation of pain to lower legs or any changes in urinary or defecation functions or coordination of legs these would be red flags showing need for immediate attention.  Otherwise heat and rest.  If pain does not improve see an osteopath for diagnosis and imaging studies.

Get checked: Typically, back pain due to structural issue  in the back gets worse with activity and certain positions & better with rest or change of position like a disc problem.  This could be an inflammatory condition, infection, or tumor of the spine or referred pain due to a kidney issue, GI issue like an ulcer, a vascular problem like an aneurysm, or some other issue within the abdominal /pelvic region.

Lumbar "faciities"?: Did you mean acute lumbar facet( joint pain)?  If so, this is frustrating to patients since these structural joints can be aggravated without any fall, lifting incident, etc.  Simple things like quickly turning over in bed, getting out of a chair, twisting to do laundry, vacuuming, sweeping mopping, etc. can aggravate these joints. Good thing is that they'll settle down without aggressive measures

i recently had a xray fo lower back pain, some of the results showed disc space narrowing at level l2-3, mild scattered endplate spurring and degenerative changes without acute nauseous injury. what does this mean fo my back pain. thanks?

: Translation= you have an old back where the bones are frayed &amp; disks between vertebrae are not as plump as they were when younger. That means the space between vertebrae is narrower &amp; may/may not impinge on nerves that exit from the spinal cord. It means little without the correlation of a history and exam. By itself it could be an incidental x-ray of a person that age with no symptoms at all.
