Unfortunately little: At various times, thought perhaps a calcium channel blocker might curtail the vasospasm associated with blood in the subarachnoid space, and prevent the additional onset of a stroke, but quite clear years ago, that effect was minimal at best.  Do not really see it used in acute bleeding anymore, as outcomes were disappointing.

Vasospasm: Nimodipine assists in deterring vasospasm caused by SAH. Vasospasm is one of the leading reasons for stroke and morbidity following SAH from aneurysm rupture in particular. It must be administered orally for at least 2 weeks. Not as popularly used for traumatic SAH. Best of luck.

Vascular Neurology: Interesting and very valid question. There is data that suggest that alcohol use increases the risk of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. In some studies this was considered true for excessive amount of alcohol defined as more than 2 drinks a day. Regarding aspirin, a new article published suggests that Aspirin use may have benefit in risk of hemrrhage and outcome.  Discuss these with your doctor.

Depends: It depends on the extent. If it is mild, it's pretty good. If it's extensive and the person has depressed mental status or unconcious, its very poor.

Exertional headache: Sometimes a headache after physical exertion or orgasm is caused by a subarachnoid hemorrhage.  Normally this kind of headache is very severe and does not improve with time.  A subarachnoid hemorrhage is an emergency!

Such a condition is rare however.  Most exertional headaches are situational and they improve with rest.

Not always: Most subarachnoid hemorrhages and aneurysms are not genetic, however there are a few genetic disorders that do predispose to this condition. These are pretty rare disorders, and include tuberous sclerosis and polycystic kidney disease.

Comments: Glad you survived the SAH, as mortality quite high usually.  Your headaches will not respond to water, and could be exertional migraine events.  These can be reversed, so, find a neurologist who focuses in headaches.  BOTOX may be of value, but other preventatives could be considered.

Short term memory : Unfortunately, a majority of patients suffer short term memory problems related to sah. Long term memory usually remains intact. No good solution to problem.

An injured brain: Sounds like someone sustained significant traumatic injury to the brain. Brain tissue has sustained a contusion or a severe bruise bad enough to cause bleeding that has extended to the fluid spaces around the brain. This is more severe than a concussion. Some damage to the brain has occurred. The severity of the injury will be evaluated best after the acute injury has resolved.

my father has diagnosed with minimal subarachnoid haemorrhage after a head injury now he has been hitted on the same place and is bleeding earlier he was recognizing everyone but now he is having a problem in recognition is it temporary?

Accepted Answer

: Your Dad needs to be seen by a physician NOW, and is at extreme risk.  Head to nearest hospital emergency room and have him seen.  Bleeding inside the brain is a critical situation.  May be temporary but do NOT take the risk.
