Don't pick it!: Try soaking the area with a warm washcloth. The scab should eventually loosen up and fall off. If there is still drainage at the site, continue to soak with warm compresses and apply gentle pressure to drain the stye. If your eyelid is really red or you have a fever or change in vision, you need to be seen by a health care provider.

Primary aid is heat: Frequent warm compresses applied to the area involved will improve blood flow and hasten the localisation & drainage thru the outer or inner eyelid surface. An antibiotic  drop or ointment with anti-staph activity like sulfacetamide, erythromucin or Bacitracin is applied at regular intervals. Failure to respond over a week or so may indicate need for incision & drainage.Ck with your dr.

Warm hot compresses : 100+ times per day when stye firsts starts. 
Can use diluted tea tree oil to clean bacteria and notes that can cause stye. We can Rx and antibiotic/steroid ointment that can prevent scarring of stye. See Eyedoc2020.blogspot.com

Chronic chalazion: You most likely have a chalazion, not a stye.  A chalazion is a chronic infection in the eyelid gland, causing a small pea-shaped lump in the eyelid.  This may respond to warm compresses and oral antibiotics, but sometimes this needs to be incised and drained.  This is a simple office procedure that is not difficult for the patient to go through.  See your eye doctor if this doesn't get better.

Sty: Microwave a clean potato with the skin on for four minutes.  Wet a wash cloth or small towel with warm or hot water. Squeeze out the excess water and wrap it around the potato. Apply this to the eye lid until it cools down (about 15minutes).This can be repeated intermittently. Please see your opthamologist if no improvement.

Try heat: Antibiotics can help a stye from spreading but are not too effective in getting rid of them.  The best thing by far is to applying very warm, not hot, washcloths fpr 4-5 minutes at a time and about 5 times per day which usually over a 3-5 days interval will get rid of the stye.

Warm compress: You can try warm compresses, that's the only thing that really works.  Use like a beanie bag or something that stays warm continuously, for approx 15 min, couple times a day.  It usually gets worse then discharges on its own.  If it doesnt improve in a month, see your eye doctor and he will incise and drain it for you.

Sometimes: This is called a chalazion and is the incysted remains of the eyelids battle with a stye.  These are benign, can be small or large and will occasionally go away by themselves, especially if assisted by applied heat.  If it bothers you, it can be removed in an office procedure which does require a little surgery.  Some also might inject it with steroid which can also get rid of it.

so i've had a stye for almost 6 months now. i went to the doctor in march and they verified that it was a stye. they gave me indications on how to treat it so i followed them until it went away. i noticed it didn't actually go away completely. ?

Ophalmologist: If it does not bother you, ignore it. If it bothers you an eye surgeon can easily scrape it out.

i had sty in right eye wied stye out and put hand sanitizer in it even tryed to pop it and its been longer then a month and the and the bump small still ther don't hurt but still there why is bump still there and why wont go away it was a stye.

The : The worst thing you could do is put a hand sanitizer near your eye, as well as try and "pop" the stye.  For proper treatment of chronic/recurrent styes, you need to see your eye care professional.
