Don't pick it!: Try soaking the area with a warm washcloth. The scab should eventually loosen up and fall off. If there is still drainage at the site, continue to soak with warm compresses and apply gentle pressure to drain the stye. If your eyelid is really red or you have a fever or change in vision, you need to be seen by a health care provider.

See ophthalmologist: A scab that won't go away can mean foreign body trapped that became infected, trapped eyelash, or even a low grade cancer. You need warm to hot but not too hot compresses for 30 seconds with gentle finger rubbing through a washcloth in a circular motion for 10-20 seconds after the warm compress. Do not squeeze! if this a loculated infection it can spread rapidly. You need an eye md/do.
