Not stroke: Sounds like you have a problem with the mental nerve branch of viii trigeminal.  A dentist or head and neck doctor should be able to help you.

Cranial nerves: Focal numbness over the face involves the trigeminal nerve, and/or its divisions and branches.  Assuming you have developed a sensory neuropathy, cause could be due to dental or sinus problem, but some cases are due to a viral inflammation.  Ear, nose, and throat doctor, or a dentist might uncover the cause.

Bell' palsy : There are differences between a stroke and Bell's palsy. After a stroke where the face is weak, the person can still wrinkle the forehead. In Bell's palsy the person can't wrinkle the forehead. Tingling but not numbness is associated with Bell's palsy. Numbness is more associated with pathology of the trigeminal nerve. Also, numbness in the arm or leg is more likely with a stroke.

See the experts: Emergency room physicians are generalists. You need to see a neurologist. Even though you are relatively young, you could have had a stroke! get this check out, sooner rather than later.

This could be stroke: or it could be from other causes of left arm numbness.  Is there weakness?  Is there increased reflexes.  If you think you have a stroke you should see a doctor as soon as possible.  An MRI done with diffusion weighted imaging can tell if you have a stroke.  Ask your doctor fi this could help you.

Nonspecific: Unilateral (1-sided) head ; facial numbness, depending on your personal ; family medical history, can be stroke, migraine, trigeminal neuralgia, tic douleureux, among others. Have your neurologist search for an explanation, do not ignore it thinking it will just go away. Good luck!

Many items: The fluctuation from side to side is unlikely to be due to a stroke or even focal decreased blood vessel flow.  Many migraine patients due experience problems with auras, and this can include facial numbness, and, if headaches are associated perhaps this is the answer.  But clearly, this is troubling you, and need to have evaluated by your doctor.

Could be: Facial numbness of acute onset needs assessment. If it is the back of the head it can be from the neck. Talk to your gp but you probably need an mr. Sudden onset of numbness in half the face and body mandates an er visit.
