Get tested: The symptoms often overlap & both can improve over several days without treatment. However, 2-6 wks after the primary infection complications from the strep can occur in approximately 1/200 untreated cases.This includes preventable kidney, heart, systemic or brain related disorders.

Not to worry: if  you do not  develop a perisistent sore throat  , you  will be  fine,   if   have sore throat  , go to  your doctor get a rapid test and   culture. . not sure  how long the bacteria will live  but chance are small to  develop strep after such espoure .

Bacterial: Strep is bacterial  sounds like may have viral also causing bronchitis.  Viral incubation is typically 3-7 days.

Worse?: Either are not fun, and Strep is treated with antibiotics. Strep has risk of, albeit small, of affecting the kidneys and therefore it is treated with antibiotics.

Yes: On occasion, strep coexists with a viral infection. Thus the antibiotic may appear not to make you better, since it does not work for the viral illness. In these cases whether the strep is an active infection or present in a " carrier" or passive state is not clear.

Odd statement: Strep throat is caused by the strep A bacteria. Although many sore throats are caused by viruses, including EB virus mono, they do not require or respond to antibiotics either by mouth or IV. If you had a week of IV antibiotics it would be for something other than a strep throat and meningitis would be threated that way. Your post shows your confusion. You should have your doc clear this up.

Confusing question: There is no strep throat virus, the cause is a bacteria. If the bacteria got into a gland and cause swelling, simple antibiotic treatment would help.If the issue is truly caused by a virus, it would have to run its course.A visit to an ENT might confirm or exclude your self diagnosis and find you a plan for treatment.

: Yes, untreated strep throat can lead to rheumatic fever. But as far as known, not other autoimmune disorders, and unrelated to later covid infection. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck.

How long?: Assuming that you have had these symptoms intermittently for months or years, allergic rhinitis is likely the cause.  The dry throat may be from irritation from the post-nasal drips and/or mouth-breathing.  Try a nasal steroid. If not helpful , see allergist.
