Odd statement: Strep throat is caused by the strep A bacteria. Although many sore throats are caused by viruses, including EB virus mono, they do not require or respond to antibiotics either by mouth or IV. If you had a week of IV antibiotics it would be for something other than a strep throat and meningitis would be threated that way. Your post shows your confusion. You should have your doc clear this up.
