i take 100mg sertraline and have eating issues. i take some laxatives sometimes. i havereally bad stomach ache and pain in my side. is it safe to mix?

Need exam: Sertraline can cause constipation, although not a common side effect.  See your pcp without delay to find cause of "stomachache" and "pain in side." Tell doctor about your 'eating issues' and laxative use. All symptoms may relate, so details will help the doc. Don't be embarrassed. Hold off on laxatives unless prescribed  until you have exam. Changed stool color: The color of stool varies with foods, speed of emptying of the GI tract, medications &amp; supplements ingested, gut flora (unique for each individual), additives (like blood), subtractions (like absent bile), infection, inflammation, &amp; other factors. Consider what you ate in the last few days, but if greenish color is unusual for you &amp; persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, see your doctor.

Depends: Stomach aches after eating can be from eating too much, eating something that disagrees with you because you can not tolerate it, causes reflux or gastritis (inflammation of the stomach).  Try writing down what you eat to see ify ou can track it.  The most common food intolerances are to dairy and gluten so do an elimination diet for 3 weeks without them and see how you feel.  And see your doctor.

Consult a doctor: Abdominal pain can be due to various causes you need to consult a physician for workup and treatment. As you mentioned relation to the meals it can be due to peptic ulcer disease or gall stones but it needs physical examination and workup my physician to come up with an accurate diagnosis.

DO NOT EAT: Do not eat anything until you find out what the problem is.  If this is a surgical condition, it is very important to have an empty stomach.  You may, however, drink clear liquids.

Pepto Bismol (bismuth subsalicylate)?: Did you take pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate)?  That is a common cause of your stool being black.  If you did not then it is possible that you have bleeding from an ulcer in your stomach.  this should be checked right away at an urgent care.

Gastritis: You may have gastritis. This is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It can be acute (occuring for a short period of time), or last for months (chronic). The causes are many, and can include taking too many nsaids such as Aspirin ibruprofen or naproxen, drinking alcohol, or extreme stress. It can also be caused by an infection in the stomach (h pylori bacteria). See your pcp to determine.

Common: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris.It starts out a deep green &amp; slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile.Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs.
