Re-evaluate: Tmj\tmd is not something that you generally just treat and it's cured. There are many contributing factors and episodes of stress, not wearing an appliance, gum chewing, etc. Can cause ongoing symptoms. When was the last time you saw your dentist for an evaluation? Are you following all instructions? See your dentist and perhaps an ENT specialist to rule out any medical issues.

Heat & exercises : Without more information,  it is not possible to  try to determine the cause of your pain. Would recommend trying an otc  NSAID along  with stretching exercises. If the pain persists then you need to see your pcp.

Mostly just time: For most muscular symptom presentations in the neck, it takes a little time to  clear.  Sometimes, this may be an initial symptom of another problem like a disc herniation but those usually resolve with time.  If you smoke, stop.  Local heat application may help as can simple stretching of the neck while showering and avoiding prolonged positioning.  Otc medication may help if no contraindications.

These are worrisome: symtoms and may represent an inflammation of the meninges. You should be evaluated by a health care provider as soon as possible to exclude meningitis. Go soon and don't delay.

Hot water: Definitely!  The Japanese knew about this centuries ago - hence their tradition of onsen.  A hot bath or shower will do wonders! Of course rest and stretching of tired muscles even with some massage thrown in can do wonders. Best to 'listen' to your body... Pain is the language it uses to tell you 'stop doing' this or that. It helps to pay attention sometimes.  Now I recommend taking it easy.

neck strain and major neck/ear inflamation over 10 weeks ago but still trying to rehab neck and lower back from stiffness.  any advice on what not to do (run, bike, tennis etc.) just in case there is an underlying muscular-skeleton issue? thanks

Any exercise: You have the right idea. Any exercise that will raise your core body temperature will help loosen the muscles and improve muscle health. It will take 3 months or longer to see the full effect. Sauna is not the same as raising core body temperature through exercise. The process of exercise releases hormones that facilitate healing and good health.

It is pesky: Often a stiff neck results from sleeping awkwardly, particularly in a cold or drafty room.  It is good news that the pain improved and not surprising that it returned.  Continue to sleep in comfortable position, use moist heat and then do gentle range of motion stretching 2-3 times daily. You can take ibuprofen. Avoid further injury.  It will be gone, I predict, in another week. Best wishes:)

STIFF NECK: If not associated with any sickness, just  muscular strain with the help of hot compress and muscle relaxant, it last within a week.Plus you have to rest your neck.

Hard to say: Your swelling concerns me the most. Whole-body swelling can be caused by heart-failure, liver damage, kidney failure, and certain medications, among other causes. With the combination of neck pain and swelling, nothing specific comes to mind. Please see a provider who will do a good physical exam and ask you more questions to try to figure this out. You deserve an answer!

i have aspergers syndrome. i now i got stiff neck, can't feel sleepy, twitching, increased heart pulse, body tempreature can i have sporadic fatal insomni?

Accepted Answer

Not likely: No connection between asperger's and fatal familial insomnia. Any family history of the latter? Symptoms you describe are not often associated with a sleep disorder except for sleepiness. Actually your "syndrome" sounds closer to encephalitis than asperger's or ffi.
