Home if possible: It is always best if the person can stay in their own home but they would need help. Often a nurs who come to the home can assist but th individual would need a walker and easy access to a bathroom and bedroom and someone to fix meals.
Many people use assisted living and last resort is a nursing home.

: There can be many reasons for an elderly person to be walking slow. It could be a medical reason like hypothyroid or nuance of diabetes or severe anemia or dementia. Walking slowly in a shuffling gait is a sign of Parkinson’s disease. Need in person evaluation by neurologist for diagnosis and treatment

Depends: If they are steady on their feet any of these will work - if not then you need to have some assistance in case they fall.  It might be better to start in the home or nearby so that assistance is available.

Responses: Presume you are 60 and the "elderly male" is much older.  The sleep is in part OK if it is at nite, but not so good if during day.  You need to assess if this is due to his medications or even ingestion of alcohol.  Dementia progression can result in apathy, withdrawal, loss of mobility, and incontinence.  Have your doctor reassess.

No: Calcium and mineral supplementation won't help with unsteady walking.  Calcium and mineral supplementation may help prevent fracture when a fall occurs.

Perhaps: While mask wearing was optional, it still,should be done. Air travel has now been stated at 13 feet for some viral particles. Keeping social,distance will help. We should not be unreasonably afraid to get outside, but should still remain prudent and take reasonable,precautions.

elderly dementia pt had broken knee cap surgery 3 weeks ago. found walking a little w/no walk aid.  is it possible? would there still be pain? aware?

Possible: The knee cap is not load bearing. If you really want to make sure everything is ok, call he surgeon and ask about weight bearing status. Hope this helps!

stepped on sewing needle found on carpet sun night.  as of today, wed its a bit red & swollen but i can walk on foot a bit better then in previous days. scared to go to my doc as i dont want to bring covid to my home have elderly at home. pls help

See below: I understand your reluctance to go out - if your foot continues to improve , then it probably is not infected - if it gets worse, or you develop any signs of infection -fever, chills - you should see a doctor - you might a an infection that needs antibiotics- Also , if you have not had a tetanus shot in the last ten years, you should get one -take care of yourself also

See below: Be patient.  She will walk and progress at her own pace and forcing children without their choice can cause problems.  Just let her go and enjoy!
