Accepted Answer

Not likely but: possible.  Have your doctor take a look at it.  There are various statins, some cause less muscle side effects.   And sometimes reducing the dose helps.

Statin can but diagn: Statin can but it is usually  muscle but we  need a diagnosis of your  leg pain. I assume  you have been diagnosed  as  having osteoarthritis and if  so statin would not in generla effect  that but can cause leg  tendon problems. You need to have a clear diagnosis to be certsin if the pain is  osteoarthritis or something else.

Discontinue Meds: A statin medication may cause the unwanted side effect of muscle pain or leg pain.  If this is suspected to be the case, the medication should be stopped.  If the medication was truly the cause of the leg pain, the pain should stop within one week.

Statin myopathy: Statin myopathy is  musculoskeletal  pain with elevation of CPK ( an enzyme)  assoc with use of statins.   CPK is elevated so you can easily check . May be due to an effect on synthesis of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10, which is  important role in muscle cell energy production. Sometimes changing statin or taking CoQ10 helps. But you also had knee surgery which can be the cause. f/u /w /doc

Accepted Answer

No: You should not stop taking any medications without first notifying your physician.  This is especially true since the statin you are on is to help prevent another.  It is possible that by stopping a piece of plaque can dislodge and cause another heart attack.

See your doctor immediately to discuss your symptoms.  He/she will want to know if your urine is noticebly darker and if your muscles ache.

i am a 52 year old woman i had recent blood work done my alt was 41. all other liver panels where normal. would i need additional testing because according to the lab it is out of range. not taking any statins been using voltaren on knee 2 weeks?

: All lab results must be discussed with your prescribing physician. Only(S)he can give you an answer that correlates with your history, meds, physical examination, and imaging.

Yes: The pain from plantar fasciitis can cause you to walk improperly and therefore create pain in the legs and knees.

is it normal to have post chemotherapy knee/leg pain?

Accepted Answer

Yes: It can be very normal depending on the chemotherapy type you received. Some of my patients will complain of joint pains for several weeks. It can be do to the use of steroids in a treatment regimen. Most of my patients do get better from joint pains rather quickly.

Leg pain: since playing cricket.  You may be straining your knee cap / leg.  Please see your doc for an exam and then your coach for a better way to move your body when playing cricket.  Peace and good health.
