Test results: You are analyzing your test results and getting panicky.  Relax.  Talk to your doctor, who is in the best position to connect the dots.  A "spot" on the adrenal may be nothing and the other test results may not be significant either.  Test results need to be interpreted in the context of your symptoms and physical exam, and how much outside the normal range.

Needs to be followed: It is common for adrenal glands to form nodules, and these are often discovered incidentally (eg. Ct scan done for some other reason). Usually these are benign and nothing to worry about.  Concern arises if the adrenals are making too much hormone (eg. Cortisol, adrenaline) or if the nodule is big, or if it is growing.  An internal medicine doc or endocrinologist can help you with this.

No: Adrenal nodules are commonly found this way. A patient with a nonfunctioning mass &lt;3 cm should be followed up with appropriate CT scans (or MRI). If the mass has not grown at the 3-month or 1-year follow-up, no further testing is recommended. If the mass does grow within 1 year, adrenalectomy is recommended or if &gt;4cm and nonfunctioning it is recommended for removal.

: Metastatic cancer in the lungs is rarely presented with a single lesion (nodule). Adrenal lesion which is accidentally detected by CT or MRI of the abdomen is usually benign and we call it adrenal incidentaloma. I doubt these two findings are related and the work up, if needed, will depend on each lesion and your symptoms. These findings are the reason why I am always against whole body CT scan.

There are options: There are many options to treat lung cancer that has spread, this include chemotherapy, targeted therapy and clinical trials with the new immunotherapy  that is showing good results. Please discuss treatment options with the oncologist.

Many causes: "adrenal problems" is a very broad question. Your adrenal produces hormones, including cortisol and adrenaline. We need these hormones to sustain life; they are increased in response to stress. Adrenal failure can be from autoimmunity; adrenal overactivity from tumors.  Alternative practitioners often allege “adrenal fatigue” from chronic stress. See an endocrinologist for adrenal problems.

Primary and metastat: Functional adrenal tumors of the cental cortex region cause Cushings disease.  In the cortex one finds the pheochromocytoma which can be benign or malignant and produce hormonal activity elevating blood pressure.  Metastatic lesions are also found with the primary in kidney or lung.  In most cases, except for small benign adenoma, surgery indicated.

Yes: Yes ultrsound even identifies adrenal in newborns. Technologist must purposely look for it .  It usually sits above kidney.
