Accepted Answer

Yes: As long as you have no instability or myleopathy(spinal cord involvement) or progressive neurologic symptoms or exam findings, treatment with a chiropractor can be tried as long as it involves modalities and gentle traction avoiding manupulation especially in extension.

difference between herniated discs, nerve compression, radiculopathy, sciatica, spinal stenosis, spondylosis and osteoarthritis. i get various diagnosis?

complications of OA: When discs between the vertebral bodies bulge out  usually backwards or sideways, it is called herniated. This causes compression on the nerve roots between the vertebral bodies leading to shooting pain in lower extremities referred as radiculopathy or sciatica. Most often this starts in elderly when oseoarthritis  in  facet joints with discs causes narrowing (stenosis) of spinal canal.

can back surgery work on spinal stenosis and cervcical and lumbar spondylosis?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Surgery can be very effective in treating symptoms arising from these issues. However, in most cases extensive nonsurgical treatment must be ineffective prior to considering surgery.

my right leg has been swollen for a month i have spinal stenosis and  spondylosis l5 s1 is it normal to have swollen leg and how can i treat it?

NO: it is not normal to have a swollen leg due to either spinal stenosis or spondylosis...have an IN PERSON visit to your PCP (Primary Care Provider to check that leg out!!  (sooner the better)

: First, to sort out and objectify arm symptoms, an EMG/ NCS would help.  Second, yes, you should have an opinion from a neurologist or a neurosurgeon.  Third, you may be best handled conservatively with physical therapy.

i have lumbosacral spondylosis without myelopathy, spinal stenosis other than cervical, lumbar region with neurogenic claudication and thoracic radiculitis. what should i do?

Exercizes: There are two therapies for neurogenic claudication.  Many patients who religiously perform the daily stretching and back strenghthening exercizes, get relief.  For those who don't decompressive surgery can improve quality of life.  Good luck.

got x ray results. basically discs are wearing down leading into spinal stenosis? not really sure whats going on. im young and fit, what could cause this?

: You don't mention what your symptoms are. I'm not sure that wearing down of intervertebral discs leads to spinal stenosis. The discs would have to herniate and press on the spinal cord to do that. I recommend consulting a neurosurgeon to assess your symptoms and your MRI findings.and advise you.

Not effective: Spinal stenosis is an anatomical narrowing of the vertebral canal, and shots do not widen the area.  Am singularly unimpressed by injections to treat this condition, and find exercise and/or surgery to be far superior.

Accepted Answer

Depends on the area: Lumbar stenosis is most common and typically causes deep, aching buttock and leg pain that is worse with activity and relieved with rest. It may also cause sciatica, weakness and numbness in one or both legs. Cervical stenosis will often present as loss of coordination and may be more subtle. It may also result in radiating arm pain, numbness or weakness and neck pain.
