What are symptoms of spinal stenosis?

Depends on the area: Lumbar stenosis is most common and typically causes deep, aching buttock and leg pain that is worse with activity and relieved with rest. It may also cause sciatica, weakness and numbness in one or both legs. Cervical stenosis will often present as loss of coordination and may be more subtle. It may also result in radiating arm pain, numbness or weakness and neck pain.

Depends: This depends on the region of the spine that it occurs and the severity of the spinal stenosis. There can be no symptoms, symptoms of neck or back pain with or without arm or leg pain. Symptoms can include neurologic ones like numbing and tingling as the most common which would be made worse with spine extension and better with spine flexion.

Multiple: There are multiple symptoms with spinal stenosis. Pain radiating down the leg(s) -radiculopathy - usually worse with extension of the back, weakness, and numbness are some of the commonly seen symptoms.

Spinal stenosis.: Spinal stenosis in a condition wherein tissue grows around the spinal cord, causing gradual compression and pain. It's progressive and unrelenting. Unfortunately leading to debility and pain in the back that tends to relent when bending forward. Surgical options are available which may help, but left alone it'll cause progressive limitations.

Varies: When it occurs in the lumbar spine, spinal stenosis can cause back and leg pain, numbness, weakness and even changes in bowel and bladder function. Patients with lumbar stenosis will often have trouble standing for a long period of time and will often lean forward walking, such as in leaning on a shopping cart while at the store. Good question.
