Bl. widow or br. rec: Spider bites are fortunately uncommon. In many cases, presumed spider bites are actually due to another skin condition or an insect sting. The black widow spider and the brown recluse spider can cause the symptoms you describe. in addition to the local redness, irritation, and pain from the bite, 
these two spiders that are known to cause allergic reactions, which can present as flu-like symptoms.

Talk with his doctor: His doctor may or may not recommend an ER trip. A 3 to 4 month-old baby is pretty young, so should be seen by his doctor to see what severity the cough is. "Closed chest" means different things to different people. If no serious problem is found, the baby may return home and be watched by his parents, but it is hard to assess a young baby's breathing without an exam.

: Temp of 39C is not unusual in viral infection. You can take Acetaminophen 650 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg every 6 hours as needed for high temp and headache. Or you can use any OTC product which contain antipyretic, decongestant and cough suppressant.

IT depends but...: if it's a tick bite and you have recently been in the woods (or backyard North Carolina) then it would explain your symptoms... of Lyme's disease or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.  Or it could all be a flu virus and incidental bite mark from a flea.  Please get yourself checked out by healthcare provider.

Mgt: These symptoms may represent a tick borne infection. Only 50% of lyme cases are associated with a target rash. I would suggest screening lab tests at your PCP's office.

Related? Maybe.: If the area on your skin has expanding redness, pain, swelling, it may be a bacterial infection of the skin, called cellulitis. Bacterial infections can cause flu-like symptoms, and ticks can transmit other diseases as well. You may have cellulitis and a cold. Make a Dr's appointment. Heal well!

Primary Dr can check: On the west coast, the western black-legged tick can bite humans, and can cause lyme disease, after feeding for 24-48 hours. A lab can test such a tick for lyme disease bacteria. The doctor may treat with antibiotics if the lab finds lyme bacteria, if the bite site has a bull's-eye rash, or if there are other worries... Such as a lot of irritation and maybe a skin infection at the bite site.
