my son has a history of chrons disease, for almost 10 years.today he said he noted black arond his rectum, not stool.is this a sign of cancer?

Depends: On what he is referring to?  The black could the tarry stool which s associated with blood in the stool.  If it is the tissue colored black, still notlikely to be cancer, but definitely not normal.  By the way, how did you son see his own rectum?

Maybe: A lot more information is needed to make that diagnosis- your history, symptoms, appearance of stool, Hb level, stool test, family history etc. If some concerning factors do exist then a person may need to get checked for colorectal cancer. Take care.

is passing a lot of gas a sign of cancer? im 38? have no blood in my stools just gassey at times?

: Your gas is more likely related to digestive issues or dietary changes. See your doctor or a gastroenterologist for evaluation.  Possibilities include, but are not limited to: lactose intolerance, pancreatic enzyme deficiency, sudden increase in fiber intake and food allergies.

Could be.: But not likely at your age unless you have first degree relatives with colon cancer.  If the blood is bright red and at the end of the stool or only coating the stool ( vice incorporated into the stool) this is likely due to hemorrhoid. 

Dark red blood, sticky blood or blood in the stool are some reasons to have further evaluation.

Lower GI endoscopy: The symptoms may occur with hemorrhoids, anal fissure and anal cancer (or lower GI cancer). It is suggested that he see a gastroenterologist and have a lower GI endoscopy performed.

suffered from chronic constipation since a infant. history of occasional hemorrhoids. i notice after i have a good bm sometimes if i push abit to make sure its all out, i feel like there's more stool but it won't come out. is that a sign of cancer?

: No. See a good GI doc who can set you up on a good program to alleviate your symptoms. In the meantime roughage in diet, adequate water, OTC stool softener and laxative like psyllium will be helpful. Hope you do well.

is constipation alone sign of cancer. i always had constipation on and off for years and years. i can't go 2-3 times out of 7 days of the week. no blood in stool. how accurate is the fit stool test at assessing risk for colon cancer?

: Constipation is not the definitive sign of cancer. FIT is over 90% accurate.

Unlikely: Any persistent change in your bowel movements should be evaluated by your doctor.

Yes.: Yes. It can also be a sign of depression, anxiety, and a host of chronic illnesses. It can also be seen in people who are healthy but just don't get hungry.

The poor appetite of cancer is usually associated with unintentional weight loss.

Could be: It can be a sign of an endocrine disorder in which your  signals to regulate sodium may be off.  There are certain conditions, such as addison's disease, in which your body cannot regulate sodium.  It can be due to medications as well.  It also can be associated with cancer, usually lung cancer, but you may have other symptoms such as shortness of breath or weight loss.
