Get full ECG: U should get a full 12 lead ECG that is interpreted by a physician to verify that. Sinus arrhythmia is a very common and benign finding.

: Quite possbly - Yes
Think of the heart's contractions being like a wave motion frm top to bottom starting at the top in the sinuses. If the wave of contraction is irregular then the beat will be off and the wave interupted. It can be disquieting to experience your heart almost jumping back in to gear. But the latent rhythmicity is about once a second.

i had 7 late beats on my holter monitor during sleep. are late beats the same as a sinus pause or arrest? are late beats dangerous?

Unclear: I'm not sure what you mean by "late beats".  It's possible this refers sinus pauses.  What matters is the possible causes, like medications, and how "late" the beats, as in two seconds versus more than 3 seconds.  You should review these findings with the doctor who ordered your holter monitor.

: None that I can think of. Most likely sleep movement disorder. Ask about sleep study. Ask about sleep apnea.

Sinus arrhythmia: Sinus arrhythmia occurs proximal to sinus exit block. On the other hand, if there's sinus exit block then seeing that the sinus is very irregular is difficult as there are all degrees of exit block.

is there any long term dangers of having a constant regular sinus rythym, yet slightly tachycardic heart rate?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: There is a tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy which is occasionally seen in people with a chronic tachycardia. The exact rate necessary to produce the problem is not clear but it would be less likely to occur with a "mild" tachycardia. When there is tachycardia, though, we always look for the cause. If your thyroid gland is overactive for instance that needs to be treated.

Needs holter: everyone has some minor arrhythmias. So, the risk of serious problems is statistically low.
BUT, cannot say in your particular case, and an EKG followed by a holter to see the exact pattern is necessary.

Yes it can be --: you may have what's called inappropriate sinus tachycardia.  I would recommend a cardiac electrophysiology testing ASAP, and ask your doctor to refer you to a cardiac electrophysiologist -

Not sure: Those 2 things don't usually go together.  I could certainly a guess, but the bottom line is that heart palpitations are never a good thing and you should get them checked out soon.  If you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or any serious issues with the palpitations head to the er or call 911.   If the "opening of the sinuses" is a problem, see your ENT afterwards. Doubtful: If the reaction is appropriate then it is normal. If your heart is very sensitive you should stop all caffeine intake and see how your body reacts. If it condition continues you can have an electro physiologic testing by a cardiologist to check for the electrical activity in your heart and i will also help confirm or rule out sick sinus syndrome.
