High Fiber Diet : Will most likely not encounter any problems. Make sure your bowel movements are regularl & normal. Try to eat a varied diet so your body is exposed to all sorts of vitamins, minerals, proteins & other important nutrients. A high fiber diet may lead to colonic hypertrophy which is associated with sigmoid volvulus. This is rare & usually not seen with with the type of fibers mentioned in question.

i take oats with nuts & multi grain porridge for 2 out of 4 meals.can i add these for more nutrition- sprouted flax & chia seeds,oat bran,wheat germ?

Keep it up: The options you suggest are healthy ones.  You should eat according to your taste with an emphasis on vegetables, fruits, whole grains and a healthy source of lean protein.  The key is to limit processed foods and sugar as much as possible.  You are making healthy choices.  Keep it up.

i consume a lot of wheat bran due to digestive issues. i read that it contains phytates that hinder absorption of some nutrients. is it safe to continue eating soaked wheat bran daily or am i causing potential anemia? i take multivitamins.

Bran: Anything in excess is bad. Try to balance your meals and condition.  You can also keep a food diary and evaluate your symptoms. This may help you titrate how much you can eat.

Not for  anemia: Bleeding from an ulcer or GI malignancy  needs to be excluded.  Iron deficiency in a  male might indicated some kind of malabsorption . If  due to celiac disease  wheat and oat bran need to be excluded.  Another possibility is poor stomach acid from taking acid blocker medications. Smokers can develop iron deficiency anemia from exposure to cadmium.  Find the cause  of the iron deficiency.

Some consumers grow and juice wheatgrass in their homes. It is often available in juice bars, alone or in mixed fruit or vegetable drinks. It is also available in many health food stores as fresh produce, tablets, frozen juice.

Fiber v constipation: One of basic tenets of bowel function is consuming enough fluids &amp; fiber plus getting enough exercise. Bran is a great source of fiber but it's only one source. Consider aiming for 25-35g/d plus water. If more fiber, fluids &amp; exercise aren't enough, go see your FamilyDoc for evaluation. Irritable bowel syndrome is more common than inflammatory bowel disease. Consider checking thyroid function.

Where is the protein: Eating a bran muffin as part of a balanced meal and diet is not bad.  It is predominantly carbohydrate, with little protein.  A well balanced diet is the healthiest.  Only carbohydrates may leave you tire in the morning.

All Bran is all good: All Bran is a good low calorie, high fiber choice for breakfast.  May have too much fiber for some people, in fact.  I recommend mixing it with other breakfast cereals to add fiber without a large amount of calories.
