Yes flu shot: The flu shot is even more important this year than before. The vaccine is usually a dead virus that cannot infect the person it is given to. There may be symptoms similar to the flu (fever primarily) for 24 hours after the shot but that is due to your body building immunity. It's important to be vaccinated this year because having the flu makes you more susceptible to infection with other disease

Symptoms of COVID 19 infection may include (but aren’t limited to) dry cough, shortness of breath, nasal congestion, fever, headache, sore throat, feeling tired,  loss of sense of taste/smell, decreased appetite, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, chills without or without shaking &amp; muscle aches.

Not wise....: Chronic illness is a reason for a child to recieive the  flu vaccine.  A child with a chronic illness has an increased risk to have flu complications if infected . More likely your child would get vaccine by shot if she/he has chronic problem. Low grade fever <100 f or runny nose is not a contraindication to getting the flu vaccine.  You might want to review your doctor's vaccination policy.
