Prob infection: In an otherwise healthy young person, such symptoms are usually due to infection (strep or otherwise).  Since lymphoma can also present like this, it's best to have it checked by a doctor.

Nodes: lymph node enlargement aka lymphadenopathy is quite common in two anatomic locations: 1) the neck area &amp; 2) the groin.  These locations are prone to infections (viral or bacterial)&amp;  will result in the body's reacting with lymphadenopathy.  Follow up with your MD, &amp; also have your dentist check for any oral problems that could cause such reactive changes. If there is progressive ↑ in size, see MD.

hi, could a primary cytomegalovirus infection cause persistent (months long) bilateral anterior cervical lymphadenopathy in an immunocompetent 23 year old? is it possible that a covid-19 infection could cause this? thank you?

: Lymphadenopathy can definitely last months with either of these infections, and with many other viral infections. Part of this depends on how long the acute illness lasted and the size the baseline lymph nodes were. Continue to follow-up with your doctor if they persist to be sure nothing more serious is going on.

Very similar...: Cervical lymphadenitis (or just adenitis) is defined as enlarged, inflamed, and tender lymph node(s) of the neck. This usually occurs from an infectious process. Cervical lymphadenopathy (or just adenopathy) refers simply to enlarged lymph node(s) of the neck. However, the two terms often are used interchangeably.

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Cervical fusion: Depend upon how many levels are being operated upon.Now a days a simple discectomy is rearly done and usually a bone fusion along with plate fixation is the common practice.One level fusion usaually allows the return to daliy activities in a short period of time 3to 4 weeks, however more extrenous activities such as sports require that the fusion be solid heal 4to 6 months.

Not likely: Unless you had some complication of the surgery that would have affected your testes, which would be very unlikley, the two should be unrelated.

how soon can i sing again after anterior cervical discectomy?

4 weeks: It depends on which level (or levels) is being operated upon.  Operations at any level may cause some hoarseness of the voice which is usually temporary, but may be permanent in rare cases.  Operations along the upper cervical spine (i.e. C3-4, c4-5) may cause inability to sing at a high pitch so discuss this with your surgeon.  Most patients have a normal voice about 1 month after their surgery.
