Varies: You can catch the athletes foot fungus via direct contact with an infected person, or by touching surfaces which are contaminated with the fungus. The fungus thrives in warm &amp; moist environments. This fungus is commonly found in showers, on locker room floors, and around swimming pools. In some environments this fungus can thrive indefinitely unless the area is cleaned well with disinfectant.

Change shoes and tx: Get rid of problematic footwear - otherwise wash all laces , soles and footwear in bleach - color safe - if it survives the wash, great - if it doesn't, sorry. Use Lamisil (terbinafine) cream twice daily for two weeks and repeat the wash also sun dry it after the dryer for a few hours.

: I am not aware of any danger with Lysol contact, but twelve hours is plenty of time to allow the spray to dry. Spraying your shoes does not treat athlete's foot... you'll need OTC antifungal medication. Here's some more info on treating athlete's foot:

Several things: If you have been wearing shoes without sock and you have athletes foot it would be best to spray your shoes with an antifungal and let them dry overnight.
You need good hygeine for your feet and need to use an antifungal on your skin to help rid of the fungus and prevent return.

Fungal infection: Apply lotrimin (clotrimazole) and keep without socks so it airs out

Maybe/not: The Lysol would be worthless. Look around for a foot fungus spray like Micotin (miconazole) or similar product. This can help your feed &amp; may remove the fungus from the shoes. Only time will tell if the spray you use is effective but it is worth a try.
