TCM: Ginger root has been used in traditional chinese medicine to induce menstruation that is delayed. It has also been used in the treatment of excessively heavy periods. Recommend that you consult with an alternative medicine physician if considering use of high dose ginger to induce period. See your physician: This kind of question really needs a face to face evaluation with your family physician or gynecologist.  Periods can be made to come on time with use of the birth control pill, but first you need to find out if there is some condition behind those irregular periods, such as thyroid disorders (very common) and irregularity around menopause, which may indicate a problem with the uterine lining.

There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.
