can one of my medicines be causing my tinnitus? i'm on sertraline, famotidine, librax, (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) & mag-ox. i'm only on day 5 of the sertraline.

Assuming new: I am assuming you have had the tinnitus since starting one of the meds.  Zoloft (sertraline) can do this.  I would perhaps talk to your doctor about holding it.  If it doesn't go away, I would check for an acute inflamation of the middle ear such as a viral infection

Zoloft (sertraline): Yes, depending on the dose, how long u have been on the medication, and how rapidly u were tapered off of it. If symptoms not releaved within a week, talk to the prescribing doctor.

i have tinnitus is paxil (paroxetine) of zoloft safer i am coming off of citalapram, it made my tinnitus worse,i am afraid of new drugs, i once had viral vertigo, ?

Good question: Citalopram made your tinnitus worse.  I understand this. You have been offered two other medications. You are fearful of new drugs. Not knowing the exact mechanism that lead to the worsening of the tinnitus with Citalopram makes it difficult to predict how you will respond to either of the replacement meds. My approach then would be to target the tinnitus. You need to discuss this with your doctor

i took sertraline for 1.5 years. havent taken it for awhile but im depressed and its worse. the discard date was 12/05/2016. can i still take it?

Yes: An article came back recently testing bioavailability of some medications dating back up to 50 years and found many of them still active.

The manufacture of meds thru the FDA process puts a time limit of guarantee by the producer but that does not mean it will not be effective at a later date.

Little risk.: Serotonin syndrome is uncommon, and seen at high doses or in situations in which numerous drugs are interacting. With 100 mg of sertraline (Zoloft) it would be exceptionally rare, and perhaps impossible -- unless combined with other medications.

Zoloft (sertraline): Some physicians will prescribe periactin. This can be used before intercourse, but its not effective for everyone and may cause sedation.  Your best bet might be switching to pristiq (desvenlafaxine).  This is more expensive, but has much less sexual side efffects.

i take sertraline and i was wondering if its bad to take the morning after pill while youre taking sertraline?

Don't think so: Plan B and similar morning-after pills can alter the menstrual bleeding for the cycle in which Plan B was taken, and sometimes the next cycle too. One should be sure to check a home pregnancy test about 3 weeks after sex because a morning-after pill works well but not 100% of the time. In general, sertraline doesn't interact with a morning-after pill. The two meds don't interfere with one another.

Serotonin syndrome: It could land you in the hospital for serotonin syndrome. If you are considering overdosing, call 911 or go to your nearest emergwncy room! get treatment! get better! you deserve it! work with your doctor to treat whatever is going on!

is it okay to take 5 or 6 sertraline 50mg?

Doctor's instruction: With any prescription including zoloft/sertraline, it is highly recommended that you follow your doctor's prescription exactly as indicated on the bottle. The dose range for zoloft is generally 25 mg to a maximum of 200 mg daily. The dose of this medication generally does not shift quickly since it takes time to see results at a given dose (several weeks). Contact your doctor if not sure.
