i talked to one of your doctors yesterday. he said he was going to send in a prescription my pharmacy has not received anything yet. how long does that normally take?

is it possible for my local medical centre to fax/send my prescription to a pharmacy near me, or must i hand over a physical copy to the pharmacist?

It possible : Electronic medical records (EMR) are replacing the paper charts.  Almost all the doctors, clinics and hospitals are electronic.  There are HIPPA complain means of communication between pharmacy and doctors are available now.

i was told to take doxycycline for my chalymidia, but how do you guys give me meds?? do the doctors on here send a prescription to my pharmacy?

Not on this site: The public Healthtap site is an information source.If you actually read the site info you will know we do not diagnose or treat anything from this platform.If you sign up for Healthtap Prime, and find a willing doc they do provide some services as paid consultations.However, if you believe you have chlamydia, you need proper testing/exam to confirm this and see if additional STD's need treatment.

: It is the required process to switch pharmacies if one drugstore goes OOB.  Your local doctor should be readily capable of facilitating this. Call the pharmacy: Please call the pharmacy to ensure they received the prescription.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

: Try to call help desk as on the free HealthTap platform no such services are possible. Make sure you get established also with a primary care doc at HealthTap or in person so that you have proper follow up.

is it legal for a doctor to directly sell a medication to you (instead of sending you to a pharmacy with the prescription)?

Accepted Answer

Yes but ethical?: It is legal but there are ethical issues.  Doctors often do it to make more money.  It can be more convenient (avoid a trip to the pharmacy), but it can encourage overprescribing too.  If your doc is doing a lot of it, and if it involves a lot of expensive medications, while avoiding the generics, it may suggest a problem.

Relatively common: Prescription either sent to a different pharmacy, not sent at all ( the doc's opinion was different from yours) or in process of submitting. Call back office or technical support if telemedicine consult with not previously known doc. Not all consults result in prescribed meds.

: Since physicians on this public this site do not prescribe any medication and do not share data with those sites that do, we cannot answer your question. If you dealt with a HT concierge physician contact the help desk of that site.
