Max strength: use max strength selsun blue that is 1% or better is selsun not selsun blue that is 2% and perhaps is still prescription item. Do not use more often than directed

nizoral&neutrogena seem to relieve me of the itching from seborrheic dermatitis however don't really get rid of the flakes, how's selsun blue instead?

Seb derm flakes: Washing the hair more frequently, adding a salicylic acid or tar shampoo helps get rid of flakes, as does adding a cortisone solution to help decrease inflammation.  If the seborrheic dermatitis is persistent despite treatment, please see your dermatologist.

i've been told to use nizoral (ketoconazole) for seborrheic dermatitis treatment itself and neutrogena t/gel or selsun blue for the flakes, is this true? (rotating)

Dandruff or itching: It is a good and well known dermatology recommendation to use the medicated shampoos for several common skin abnormalities.

Some even encourage uv light therapy as another natural way to control the problem.

hi doctors..dermatology question. i have seborrheic dermatitis. is it safe to use something like selsun blue or tgel/tsal directly on my scalp..i am virtually bald, with no hair to act as a buffer. sometimes causes mild irritation. anything better?

Should be fine: These shampoos should be fine for someone with seborrheic dermatitis. However, if they are irritating, you can try to use them less often and alternate with a milder shampoo, such as a baby shampoo. If that doesn't work and you are still getting irritated and/or the dermatitis is persisting, please consider seeing your doctor or a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Probably won't help: Unfortunately a host of bacteria as well as chemicals may be responsible for the rash.

NIzoral (ketoconazole) Cream: Is for fungal or yeast infections. If you do not have these problems it will not be effective.
