Renal failure: This is a guessing game i don't think you want to play. You are at increased risk with the IgA nephropathy but the HSP is transient. Just because you have increased risk does not mean it will happen.

colonoscopy next week. i was prescribed sodium phosphate. safe to use when i have iga-nephropathy (normal kidney function) and i am taking enalapril?

i have kidney iga nephropathy and minor glomerulonephritis. my kidneys are leaking calcium into my urine and im losing a lot of calcium in my urine. my ionized calcium is low. is there a surgery that can fix this or any treatment?

Talk to renal doc: While i'm not specifically familiar with shakeology, many of those preparations contain quite high levels of proteins.  This may be quite hard for your kidneys to handle if you have renal problems.  It is going to make a difference how much renal function you have left, etc.  Also, some of these products have higher levels of potassium, so that, too, may be tough on you. Share info with renal doc.

IgA: Primary IgA nephropathy is the most common glomerulitis in the us. Most cases follow a slow path to renal compromise but many are more benign. Iga deposits are oalso seen secodnay to lupus, othe connective tissue disease, ankylosing spondylitis, henoch schonlein disease.

what is the life expectancy after being diagnosed with iga nephropathy?

Not short.: Iga nephropathy sometimes resolves spontaneously. Many cases have stable disease i.e. With no deterioration for long years. Severe cases however, will develop end-stage renal disease and require dialysis. They will be eligible for transplant that can be repeated if needed. Each transplant could give on the average 90%+ of 10-15 years renal graft survival.

Yes: Iga nephropathy is a immune mediated glimerulopathy. Fish oil is recommneded. Depending on kidney function you might need meds such as acei. You can take soy protein.

It well may: Iga nephropathy ranges from trivial to serious. I'm glad you had the diagnosis made successfully. It may flare whenever there is a musocal infection, since IgA is the antibody that's most typically found there.

been experiencing sporadic episodes of cloudy urine. no uti, not diabetic, diagnosis iga nephropathy. taking topomax for migraines. any ideas?

Cloudy urine: Get a urine dipstick done --- to rule out proteinurua. Also microscopic exam of urine to rule out hyaline castes.If both negative--- no worries. If anything positive-- see ur nephrologist.
