Ouch!: These things just need time to heal.  There is not much you can do.  Avoid hot, spicy and acidic foods.  Anything that you would apply or rinse or gargle with won't last very long.   Some people get some relief from gargling with salt water (1 teaspoon of salt in a glass or lukewarm water).

Sore Throat: The best treatment for a site throat depends on the cause of the sore throat.   If you have strep, you need an antibiotic.   If you have a virus, you need hydration, rest, and symptom control. Another cause of sore throats is post nasal drip from allergies.    Gargling with warm salt water can help some with all of them.

See Physician ASAP: If you have had unprotected oral sex, GC or Chlamydial infections of the Throat are possible.  That being said, you can still have sore throat due to strep, Mono, or cold viruses.  If you have had oral sex without a condom, and have a sore throat, go to your Physician, an Urgent Care Clinic, or to a Health Dept. Clinic and get your throat cultured for STD and for Strep.

Sore throat relief: Some over the counter medications like chloraseptic spray may be helpful. A pain reliever may be beneficial as well.

Sore?: If your throat is sore and you see white exudate (pus balls) then you can gargle with salt water or half/half peroxide and mouthwash for relief.. It would be best to be seen to be sure it is not strep throat. If you see white balls and are not ill, they could be tonsilliths or trapped food particles, which are not a problem. Gargling also helps remove them. A visit will help clear that up.

This dammage to the heart leads to congestive heart failure and early death. It was a major problem before the widespread use of penicillin in 60's.
