Probably not: Actually, there is some European literature that suggests SAM-e may have a positive affect on male arousal and sexual dysfunction.  That beitng said, it can cause anxiety, restlessness, headache, and insomnia, as well as gas, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth, headache,  anorexia, sweating, and dizziness.  Side effects are worse at higher doses.

It can: But you have to be careful with herbal remedies. You never know how much of the active ingredient is in any dose. So, you can take too much of the active ingredient without knowing. In addition, sam-e can mess with liver functioning. Suffice it to say do your homework and speak with a medical professional.

A proper diagnosis: is very important here.  A person should not diagnose his/her own depression.  It could be bipolar d/o, anemia, hypothyroid, etc  Once a proper diagnosis has been made, sam-e is a option that has been helpful in many. If you want to try this, discuss it with your provider.  Once again, get help for the diagnosis and treatment of depression.

Yes: Sulfa allergy does not extend to drugs or foods with the so-called "sulfa" structure.

Probably safe but...: There's no research on this but it's probably safe to take these together, in fact I'd expect a synergistic benefit. SAMe appears to increase serotonin levels; 5-HTP does that too so theoretically one might raise serotonin too much, but this is unlikely unless very high doses are taken. I would not start both together but take one for at least 3 weeks, then add the other, starting with low doses.

Adenosyl methionine: Same is available as a dietary supplement in the us since 1999. It has been a prescription drug in italy since 1979, in spain since 1985, and in germany since 1989 to treat arthritis. You do not say why you are taking Fludrocortisone or why you want to add another agent. There is not likely to be any major interaction between the two, but your pharmacist may have this on their computer.

Yes.: Both passionflower and Sam-e are used for depression and anxiety. I would suggest that you try one before you add the other. Using both does not mean you will get better faster. With passionflower,  get the frieze-dried extract. You can get the product under the name of ProVanax. Sam-E is an Amino Acid that also helps with arthritis.

SAMe: I would not recommend taking it along with prozac, (fluoxetine) due to additive effects on serotonin, unless your prescribing doctor recommended otherwise.

See a doc: If you are so depressed that you are thinking of this, or mixing it with St. John's wort, you are much better off getting  a med whose dosage is known, its production for potency per mg is regulated, &amp; whose side effects are well studied and understood.  If you do not wish to see a doctor, consider non-medical ways to treat depression which are known to help. Proper diet, regular exercise, therapy
