A pad is better: Frequent external pad changes is a better option for your circumstance to avoid re-injury upon tampon insertion/removal. A more poignant problem is the non healing of your injuries. See a GYN MD who can determine why the area is not healing such as an infection.

Wait until followup: You should see your gynecologist who did your cold knife cone for a follow up visit prior to placing tampons just to make sure that there were not any complications that need to be addressed. Although your risk of infection is low, it's better not to place anything in the vagina until you've received confirmation that it's okay based on the procedure.

Maybe, maybe not: The longer a tampon stays inserted, the higher the risk for bacterial infection. It is difficult to say whether 6 hours is ok, and 10 hrs is not, but most recommend no longer than 6 hours.

Likely okay: The concern is toxic shock syndrome.  A very rare occurrence that can happen if you leave a tampon in too long and it causes an infection.  Surveys of women show many use tampons overnight and don't get toxic shock, so you're likely okay.  If you're worried though, can consider using a pad at night.  All gynecologists have had patients where tampon left for days (patient often forgets to remove).

Yes, it's safe: if there are no indications of any problems and bleeding has been decreasing, it is fine to use a tampon after 1 week. Ask your doctor to make sure there are no other issues.

Rectovaginal fistula: If you have a fistula you should worry more about that than the actual tampon. Fistulas are very worrisome and they should be treated. Good hygiene its a must when having a rectovaginal fistula in order to avoid infections.

Sure: If you are having any vaginal bleeding it can show up in a clean catch urine specimen.  A tampon may help.  You could also have a catheterized speciman to be the most accurate.  If the blood persists then get checked ou to determine the cause.  Hope this helps.

If it's comfortable: Yes, a young woman may use tampons during her first period as long as she is able to insert them and remove them with comfort. (never force them!) there are tampons designed for young women in mind, even young athletes. The american girl has a great book for girls called "the care and keeping of you." and companies that make sanitary products have websites appealing to young clients.
