i am taking hemorrhoid medicine with lidocaine in it and i noticed i feel very hyper, eyes dilate, etc. is this safe?  will it go away or get better?

Hemorrhoid cream: cintains Phenylephrine  which is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels. Dilated blood vessels can cause hemorrhoids.
Phenylephrine rectal is used on the rectum to relieve itching, burning, irritation, and swelling caused by hemorrhoids. Side effect of Phenylepherine is dilated pupils, feeling of anxiety. It will go away when you stop using the ointment. Consult your surgeon for bettrr advise.

hi doctors. i saw an ophthalmologist who dilated my eyes. i want to go to a different/second ophthalmologist. how long do i need to wait for the dilated eyes to back to normal and for it to be safe just in case the 2nd doctor wants to dilate my eyes?

: Years ago the procedure was done with a gauge put directly on the eyeball. It produced accurate results but was invasive. The current procedure using a puff of air is safe &amp; effective when done by those trained in the procedure.

Yes: There is no issue with wearing contact lenses before or after your eyes are dilated.

Of course: Glaucoma is a problem in which the internal eye pressure exceeds the eyes capacity to resist that pressure.  Almost always there are no symptoms early in the disease but later vision can be affected.  That is why we recommend an eye exam every year or two in people over age 40.  The course is slow, and there is plenty of time to use corrective drops.  Was your pressure always taken?

Progressive disease: Glaucoma is a chronic disease with progressive changes if the pressure is too high for the eye to withstand it.  With 30% loss, you must have had some defects on a visual field test.  Was this done in the past?  Glaucoma must be managed by an ophthalmologist - were you seeing another type of specialist?  Hopefully you are on the right track now.

Yes: It is safe to watch a movie after getting your eyes dilated.  The screen may appear too bright until the eye drops wear off, in which case you can wear sunglasses.

: No. What you describe is the usual way for measuring eye pressure.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
