i sometimes get round or oval shaped patches of dry skin on my arms or legs. most times they go away within a week to a couple months. any ideas?

: First and maybe most important, a rash is never the only symptom of a new HIV infection. If you don't also have sore throat, fever, or enlarged lymph nodes, you can be quite sure the rash isn't due to HIV. Also, the typical appearance isn't at all ike you describe:  typically it's painless, non-itch red spots mostly on the trunk. Regardless of symptoms, have an HIV blood test if possibly at risk.

i have raised patches of dry skin that first appeared on the right side neck, then a little on  left, then a patch on inside of right elbow that went away by itself, then one between my breasts and every so often i see small bumps on legs, no itch?

Such might be eczema: Rashes are hard to visualize, so an exam is needed, either in-person or on video. If it is mild eczema, many people use hydrocortisone cream twice a day for 5-10 days as it is inexpensive, found at most stores, and works well. A daily moisturizing cream (Cetaphil, CeraVe, Eucerin, etc...) used 2-4 times a day helps resolve eczema and to prevent return of dry patches. A doctor can help.

Moisturiser: If the skin is dry keep it moist and see.Keep a humidifier.

Possible : It does sound like a possible tick bite.  You could possibly take a picture and submit with your question, or perhaps a better idea would be to let your primary care doctor take a look at it.

Dermatologist: is the best doc to see, especially because of the red raised patch behind knee.  In general, lubricate from the inside w/olive oil, coconut oil, fish oil, vitamin e, etc.  Avoid skin lotions that contain alcohol because it is drying.  Peace and good health.

Eczema: What you are describing sounds like eczema or an allergic contact dermatitis to nickel.  Sometimes the nickel found in the metal snaps on jeans will contact the skin and cause an allergic reaction where it contacts.  The rash on the back of your knee is likely more along the lines of eczema.  It is difficult to tell, so i would recommend you see a dermatologist to check it out.

Dry leg skin: Most commonly an itchy circular patch of dry skin is nummular eczema.  Other possibilities are psoriasis and ringworm (fungal infection).  There are some more rare causes, but evaluation by a dermatologist would be quick and get you the correct treatment for what you have.

Rash: There are different causes of a rash that you describe.  It could be tinea ( fungus), nummular eczema, actinic porokeratosis  (less like because of your age) , xerosis, to mention a few. It is worthwhile to see a dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis.
