: Most HIV and infectious diseases experts agree with the CDC guidance and that is my advice on HealthTap. Some doctors (whether on HealthTap or elsewhere) have more conservative perspectives; and in some cases they may still rely on performance of older antibody-only HIV tests that required 3 months for conclusive results. Negative RNA and 4th get results at the times you state are conclusive.

About 95%: RNA testing for HIV isn't usually recommended excapt in very high risk situations, like unprotected sex with a known-infected partner. But a negative result at 12 days probably is around 95% conclusive. For 100%, also have an HIV antibody blood test at 4 weeks. The combination of those two negative results will be conclusive. In the meantime, you can be very confident you weren't infected.
