Depends....: If the pain is mild and getting better then its normal. If the pain is getting worse along with abdominal distention and fevers then thats a problem. Contact your endoscopist immediately if thats the case.

hello, i have noticed that when i catch a cold i have rlq pain. it's not severe, but it is definitely noticeable. any ideas about what it could be?

A possible cause: Sometimes, a viral illness can also cause inflammation in the appendix. If the pain becomes severe, or doesn't resolve after your cold gets better, please see a doctor.

i had dull pain in rlq for 4 days, now i have a pain in llq that is worse than the rlq pain but still bearable, does appendicitis pain switch sides?

It's possible...: I'm sorry you're suffering with this pain. The uncertainty certainly adds to the worry.

To answer your question, appendicitis pain can move from right to left, but it's unusual and occurs when the appendix is positioned differently than others (usually since birth).

As a 17 year old woman, ovarian, intestinal pains and pregnancy would also be things to think about.

Superficial or deep?: Is the pain on the surface or deep in the abdomen?  Does the swelling come and go or change with coughing?   Is it in the skin? Or deep to the muscle?  Associated with nausea? Cramps?  Related to menses ? Need a lot more info but will Be tough to diagnose given the fleeting symptoms.  .  See a surgeon

RUQ pain: If gall stones have been ruled out get a H. pylori test done to rule out stomach infection.

Can see doctor again: If one has very uncomfortable tummy pain, and is normally in good health, plus is not pregnant, the possibilities include: appendicitis (usually has fever), gall stones, kidney stone (very painful), constipation (crampy), stomach flu, etc... Most people with "moderate pain" or worse, need a doctor's evaluation to be sure it is not appendicitis, which would usually need surgery.

Chronic: or recurrent appendicitis happens, but rarely.  It is possible that you have small perforation that keeps getting recurrent inflammation.  But there are many many other causes of RLQ pain.  Get an opinion from a gi specialist about best treatment.

i had an ultrasound about two weeks ago that showed my complex right ovarian cyst was resolved. i am still having rlq pain, is that normal? how long?

Depends: If your pain was due to the cyst then pain should be gone.  If it was she to adhesions , appendicitis etc then pain would still be there.

Possibly: Appendicitis is always in the equation with right lower abdominal discomfort. Other causes include right sided diverticulitis of the colon, Crohn's disease, adhesions(if any prior abdominal surgery), pelvic or ovarian pathology,inguinal hernia or simple abdominal muscle strain. If symptoms persist have an examination by your MD,surgeon or gynecologist.

doubtful: As ct is pretty reliable for appendicitis and appendicitis doesn't last for 12 days. Sounds like constipation, hernia, abdominal wall pain. See your doctor for a full examination.
