Degenerative disease: The "holes" your doc referred to are probably the foramen, or spaces that the nerves travel through to get out of the spine on the way to muscles, skin, etc. Closing of the holes is "stenosis, " or pinching of the nerves leading to leg pain, tingling, abnormal sensations, etc. Stenosis is often related to degenerative disease (arthritis) which can also cause pain in the back of the hip or thigh.

i have a right side hip pain. it is like a pressure on my hip.sometimes it goes along the leg.  my esr indicates 59%. what can be the reason?

Non specific: Esr is a non specific test. One can only be sure that there is inflammation in the body. This can come even from the common cold. Pain in the hip area can be many different things. Suggest evaluation by an orthopaedic dr. If not improving.

Cartilage loss: You have osteoarthritis of the hips due to the wearing out of cartilage resulting in bone rubbing against bone which causes the pain. An orthopedic surgeon would be best to advise you of the extent of your arthritis and what treatment options are available to you.

: Sit on a platform with your foot hanging free. Swing your foot from side to side so that your thigh is twisting L to R. This rotates the ball of the hip in its socket and aggravates true hip pain. Your history is more consistent with sciatic nerve pain which originates from nerve compression in your lower back. Being sedentary subjects you to easy injury and all sorts of aches and pain; so yes.

Nerve?: Could be a pinched nerve (spinal stenosis, spur, inflammation, tight muscle).  Blood clot in the leg is another thought, but usually associated with some swelling and certain risk factors.  An exam and further details on the nature and timing of pain will reveal more information and help guide successful treatment.

USUALLY: Over 90% of bulging discs with sciatica will get better without surgery.  Non-surgical treatments (PT, Chiro, etc) along with either medications (NSAIDs or short burst of oral steroids) and possibly Epidural steroid injection should take care of most.

Many: Outside hip pain can be caused by bursitis, muscle strains, tendonitis, it band dysfunction, referred from the spine.  Inner hip (groin) pain can be related to problems in the hip joint (ball and socket) and/or referred from the pelvis organs and other places.  Go see your doctor.
