Probably not,: but it depends on the size.  In all likelihood it is a benign cyst, but if it is very large, it could cause symptoms.  If it is small, follow up ultrasound is probably all that is necessary.

Part. Hysterectomy: A "partial hysterectomy" generally means that the cervix was not removed. Having one ovary will still produce estrogen and progesterone in normal amounts, and when both drop just prior to what would be a "period", light bleeding will occur b/c the lining of the cervix has endometrial cells which will bleed slightly. This has nothing to do with having ovarian cysts.

Impossible: Your ovaries form cysts on a monthly basis that collapse with ovulation. Sometimes they DON'T collapse but even then these cysts are often asymptomatic (you can't feel them) and they wouldn't be associated with having had a hysterectomy. Any symptoms might be due to something else. If worried, see a gynecologist for an exam.

Partial hysterectomy: If your partial hysterectomy did not include the removal of the ovaries at that time, then ovarian cysts can recur 12 years later.

OCPs or surgery: You could take OCPs to suppress ovulation, as that's when these cysts usually start. The other option would be to have one or both ovaries removed, which can be done laparoscopically. However, if both ovaries are removed, you will need to take hormone replacement, especially at your age.

OVARIAN CYST: Ovarian cyst are not usually removed if size is less than 2 cm. It depends if with associated sx like back or abdominal pain. The gyne will discuss with you.
